What is Ekadashi?
Ekadashi is the eleventh day of the moon cycle, both from the Purnima (full moon) and from the Amavasya (new moon). Well-known as the day of Lord Hari, this is celebrated as one of the highly auspicious days suitable for fasting.
(हिंदू पंचांग की ग्यारहवी तिथि को एकादशी कहते हैं। यह तिथि मास में दो बार आती है। पूर्णिमा के बाद और अमावस्या के बाद। पूर्णिमा के बाद आने वाली एकादशी को कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी और अमावस्या के बाद आने वाली एकादशी को शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी कहते हैं। )
Who should observe Ekadashi vrata?
Ekadashi should be observed by all classes of people including women. According to scriptures, from the age of eight to the age of eighty, a person should fast on Ekadashi days.
